Textiles (MA)

Sheryl Teng

The concept of packaging traces back to thousands of years ago. Originally highly utilitarian, they serve the purpose of protecting, organising, and facilitating the transportation or storage of items. At the same time, the idea of packaging evokes a sense of anticipation and curiosity, as we break the seal to unravel the contents of the package. This emotional significance is further programmed and ingrained in today's society, with the boom of e-commerce that propagates the use of packaging to protect the contents.

Tapping on such, this project explores how the various aspects of a package, from incorporating perforations to unravelling with different weave structures and materials can offer surprising effects to enhance our experiences with textiles.
