[TEXTILES] I AM MANY THINGS: A Panel Discussion

How one defines themselves within the landscape of textiles today is in constant flux. As our practices grow and evolve, we find ourselves collecting new identities whilst leaving others behind.

Taking place on the opening day of the MA2 summer show.

In this open discussion we will reflect on the theme unifying the MA2 Textiles programme: I AM MANY THINGS.

Touching on the unique and privilege position we as textile makers, thinkers, leaders find ourselves. With an ability to be many things. An ability to adapt, mold, transform from one idea and identity to the next. An ability to so freely express and personally define what it is we are. And what our material practice brings to this world.

Whilst acknowledging within society today- with rising costs of living, the complexities, unarguable difficulties in carving a place for oneself within a testing industry - the need to be many things. To adapt, mold, transform- perhaps essential to establishing a practice with which can sustain and grow with you.

Drawing upon the wisdom of Textile tutors and well established practitioners Neil Musson and Richard McVetis. And reflecting on their thoughts towards the development of textile education today- perhaps allowing for more expansive ideas and identities to be formed.

They will be joined by four of this years graduates Katerina Knight, Line Marie le Fevre, Adama Conteh and Isabel Fletcher.
